About Us - Overview
Orca Exploration is a well financed, international, publicly traded company listed in Canada on the Toronto Venture Exchange..
The company is managed by a strong team of oil and gas professionals with decades of global upstream and downstream experience. In recent years team members have had a strong focus on sub-Saharan Africa, where they collectively have been involved in acclaimed successful exploration and development operations.
Orca currently has integrated natural gas operations in Tanzania operating from the reservoir to the burner tip through two of its subsidiaries, PanAfrican Energy Corporation (PAE) and PanAfrican Energy Tanzania Limited (PAT).
Through a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) with the Tanzanian Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) PAT operates and produces natural gas from the Songo Songo Gas Field. The majority of gas from the field is used by the power sector and supplies a significant percentage of indigenous electricity requirements. PAT also supplies gas to the industrial sector in Dar es Salaam through its own low pressure downstream distribution network.
A new initiative by PAT and TPDC to supply Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to local industries and businesses was commissioned in 2009 – the first such project in East Africa. CNG is currently supplied by truck to hotels in Dar es Salaam, and also provides an alternative, clean fuel to cars converted to run on CNG.
This cash generative Tanzanian natural gas production and marketing business provides Orca with a solid financial and operating foundation.
Orca seeks to expand its reserve base and to generate growth through the acquisition and drilling of new oil exploration prospects in Africa, the Middle East or Southern Europe. In 2011 Orca also plans to drill the low risk, high potential Songo Songo West prospect on its Tanzanian license, and adjacent to the producing Songo Songo field.
Orca is listed for public trading on the Toronto Venture Exchange (TSXV) under the trading symbols ORC.A and ORC.B.
